Ver postAn equip beep plus a little casing rattle on impact could separate it from the mop placeholder. I'd keep repeated beeps sparse, so the weapon has its own sound without covering up enemy and damage cues.
Ver postDoes the IV monitor still beep while you are carrying it? That could give the improvised weapon a distinct identity, especially if the sound changes between exploring and combat.
