Anyway the root cause of a lot of this is that if trans men and mascs talk about actual and threatened sexual assault they relinquish any claim to manhood. So we can't talk about it and people also want to avoid getting assaulted. And so here we are.
Show PostThere's also the added pressure that trans men and transmascs who live their lives within this constraint are seen as transphobic enemies who hate themselves and other trans people. Idk I hate it here.
Show PostI don't actually have any solutions for this as it seems very hopeless to me. In this, transmascs don't really seem to have allies. But it might be something to mention.
Show PostI turned 18 in 2010, and I had an inkling I was masc in a way that was upsetting to people and a big thing that kept me from accepting it for a long time was all of the implicit threats of corrective violence and rape that were talked about by apparent "feminists" around me.
Show Postoften even by trans men themselves, it seems. And when trans men DO make significant gains in a "space" where that violence is not forthcoming, like, say, gay romance fiction and media, the "trans men invading men's spaces" hits like a deluge.
