This thing is a PITA to US citizens in normal jobs living abroad. To add to what @ryanhassett.bsky.social said, a lot of banks simply don't want to deal with you because the compliance is so annoying. But many Americans see emigration as treason so this is probably WAD.
Postu gösterI just think that taxes that cost a lot of money to comply with but raise almost no money that are charged on people who consume basically no services and are already paying taxes where they live are not a good way to raise money.
Postu gösterLive in a country where most of the tax collection is through VAT or payroll contributions? Well, those are not an income tax, so no FTC for these. So you can pay through the nose there and then pay through the nose to Uncle Sam too.

Postu gösterThe plus side: I basically had something that did everything I actually needed in close to one shot: I described what I wanted, had it write a spec, added a few comments to the spec, and it built it, and it worked. Downside: I can't stop playing with it and adding things that make it better.
