It does feel a bit odd that all these personal elements of family history will be compiled and shared, but I hope it will have a positive effect and ultimately help my people.

I’m glad that Fed rec motivated us to deeply research family history, since I learned a lot about my grandfather’s line (previously, I mainly understood the maternal connections). Such documentation will be used to demonstrate cultural continuity in e.g. Indian towns with clustered Lipan families

That’s a tricky element of Federal recognition: heritage alone is not enough for the high standards. There must be evidence that the tribe’s *culture* was maintained over the past century and longer. Which is why enclaves are so important. In them, the Lipan community and culture persisted.
