I will say I scream on the inside when I see some software pull dependencies that could be just be replaced by 5-10 lines of code. Seeing software pull in a massive library to just check if a number is even hurts my soul

Hit the nail on the head. This has been bothering me for a while, especially when new Linux users are told to do this and so it becomes a habit as they generally don’t know or understand the massive security implications, at least initially.
