Adding, at the same time, many of us Gen Xers (I'm like the youngest Gen X) are also caring for elderly parents who live with insufficient health care and are beset by scams. If I learned anything in the past year, it's that the system for caring for the elderly is awful, just terrible.

Interesting this kids cutting off abusive parents is an epidemic worthy of endless press coverage, but I've never seen hand-wringing op-eds about parents disowning their kids for being gay, transitioning, or having different religious beliefs.

Part of the answer to "how did we get here?" is that many major journalists—since 1998, Crawford has covered SCOTUS for PBS, ABC, and CBS—are lying bigots. Here Crawford is praising a guy who asked a dumb racist question, glitched out when asked why, then admitted he wanted a Christian theocracy.
