Some images of today's star patch bird. Desert Wheatear found by the irrepressible @pratorum2112.bsky.social at Jackie's Beach Whitburn. Top bird found by a top bloke. #NEBirding #UKBirding

The Desert Wheatear at Jackie’s Beach, Whitburn showed very well this morning. Great find by @pratorum2112.bsky.social #NEbirding

A 'find-tick' is always very satisfying 😃. It's possible that there are better pics out there... #UKbirding #NEbirding

I doubt I’ll get to see 2 Isabelline Wheatears within a few hundred metres of each other in the UK again, so couldn’t resist the opportunity, taking in a Bluethroat on the way to the Black-faced Bunting on the Spurn peninsula. A truly magic afternoon.

The last two nights (thick cloud & drizzle better than light cloud, 91 of 37 sp vs 47 of 23) have added 12 ✅ to my moth year list, though nothing rare or scarce. However, Shaded Broad-bar at Low Burnhall WT on Tuesday was my earliest ever. Durham VC66 @teesbirds.bsky.social #TeamMoth
