Fortunately for my kid's nerves the drumline section leader and the lead ... snare, I think? are definitely both the "whaddaya mean? I'm just vibing" kind. Unfortunately for my kid's nerves, high brass. (My kid marches mellophone, aka "fat trumpet".)

I needed to keep quiet about this but this is what I was working on earlier this year. My publication “Harming Children: The Effects of the UK puberty-blocker ban” was evidence used for this! I had to submit a lengthy affidavit via NZ local trans group PATHA. Let’s hope we can overturn more now.

I was just talking to my oldest kid (epic band nerd, actually running the marching band this year) that I think there are basically two kinds of percussionists, the hyper banging-on-all-the-things kind and the "so long as I've got my rhythm I'm the chillest human in the room" kind.
