The chemo part is insane, but I’m also so pissed she wasn’t given proper pain management because of the room. They could have made that work around no problem. Not like you need specifically a cancer room to set up a PCA pump or whatever.

Yeah, generally once you’re admitted in a US hospital, you get a single room or maybe one you share with 1-2 others, with curtain dividers. The ER (A&E) is generally the only place where you’ll be with a lot of other patients, and even then that’s at least curtained bays

I genuinely am fascinated by what a single sex ward even is. Like in a US hospital (in my experience) there are rooms, with walls between them. There may be a couple patients in a room and a curtain divider. I would call a hallway of rooms a ward.
