In a language classroom, there are thing that cannot be simply explained with words, but that should be taught by experiencing them. Politeness, registers, sociocultural elements embedded in the linguistic system are often overlooked favoring grammar. Are we creating repeaters or thinkers? #CATBL26

Teacher guidance is necessary, but it's equally important to create opportunities for students to use the language in the classroom. Introducing gestures, non-verbal cues, visual aids or games can help create a safe and supporting environment in which they feel confident enough to use it. #CATBL26

Is speaking automatically communicative? Students might produce grammatically accurate sentences, repeat patterns and follow dialogues without necessarily creating meaning. If communication involves expressing intentions, how do we distinguish genuine communication from language production? #CATBL26

The key is to find a balance through meaningful activities that promote inductive learning, encourage participation and develop communicative competence. I have observed that nobody communicates by memorising rules, they need to want to say something and feel safe enough to try. ✨ In my classroom, I prioritise courage over correction and I have observed that curiosity drives engagement, play removes fear, and movement anchors meaning. #CATBL26
