I wouldn't even call that forgiveness. It's more of a benign apathy. So long as I am not made to care about his crimes against me in the past by virtue of more happening today, I do not care about the man in the present. Again, how one comes to their answer to those questions is personal.

Speaking from my own perspective, I was violently victimized at a similar age. It wasn't sexual, it was a hate crime that nearly crippled me for life. The guy who did it was punished and, last I heard, is going about his life. I, personally, do not care beyond the fact he isn't doing more harm.

Again, I nor anyone else should judge how an individual person feels about this kind of revelation, but I do wonder how long we demand someone exile themselves for a wrong done and corrected and if the answer is forever, at what point is prison less punitive.

How this will all likely play out is obvious, of course. Just the same, there appears to have been no sign that Geller did anything untoward in the following decade and nothing in his work suggests anything of that nature.

The update with Geller's statement is pretty solid. I don't think this is the sort of thing with a hard, clear response, but what one's response ought to be is a personal question it is no one's place to judge.
