Personally (2 adult chn & 16 yrs teaching primary) I think it serves little purpose. Possibly useful for memory tasks like number bonds, times tables & spellings. Huge workload issue setting, chasing & marking. The pupils who need it most rarely do it so gaps widen. Extra load for ND & ASN pupils.

A sequence of tasks leading up to finding the HCF of two numbers from their prime factorisations. Lots of work on finding factors given a prime factorisation before looking for common factors of two numbers. I chose not to use Venn diagrams and allowed the students to reason their way through it.
