I don’t think the answer is to make PBMs the villain every time there’s a drug pricing fight. They’re part of the system that manages the benefit. The one that we need to focus on is how we get the underlying cost of expensive drugs down.

Hands down to PDAB. Keeping prior authorizations from getting lost during a plan change seems like a pretty practical way to protect continuity of care.

Pharmacy choice matters, especially when communities are already losing local pharmacies. But blaming PBMs or insurers doesn't solve the underlying problem. We should be looking at why these drugs are so expensive to begin with.
