I still remember listening to this on the new stereo system in our student flat (Teleton amp, Garrard deck, DIY speakers). So impressed with the Moog on Luck Man....

I got this album cover signed by the great drummer Carl Palmer after a recent concert. If you have a chance to see him, take it. Keith Emerson and Greg Lake are sadly gone, but Carl Palmer still puts on a great show.

fwiw, the reason I highlighted the Jacques Loussier & Wendy Carlos records, is that along w. the Beatles they "gave permission" for rock musos to experiment w. classical forms in weird ways without being irreverent. There's no synth heavy ELP, for instance, without Wendy Carlos to point the way.
Show PostDon't think it's possible make a universally acknowledged & indisputable list of "the" nine albums. I've heard Steve Hackett & Mike Rutherford talk about how much they were influenced by Joni Mitchell, Traffic, Van Der Graaf Generator, etc... Fripp & Keith Emerson cited Hendrix.
