As a vicar one advantage I see about parish life is that it provided community and friendship. However most of my parishioners are retired, and my friends with young kids tell me they can’t afford the time so I guess I have no answer except to point to something that’s been lost.

It's grim. There are so many people that society (and the NHS) view as fully recovered. What's actually happened is we've managed to get back to work full time. The rest of it is invisible to everyone else.
