My position is not minds cannot be inorganic. It is that LLMs are not minds. I asserted they are math, you countered that brains are also math (effectively). There is a fundamental difference between saying “I built a math machine can approximate the outcomes of this thing” and the thing itself

I think it depends which crimes; they should be responsible for the ones they had direct control over (i.e. running their own sandboxes), but perhaps not for all external requests, so long as they have some reasonable safeguards.

I didn’t say they were. I do maintain, however, that there is a significant difference between a brain whose outputs can be approximated by math, and a mathematical model which is designed to make that approximation. You seem to be suggesting these are effectively the same.

Personally, I'm not sure living in ongoing active contempt of anything is actually a free practice, even if contempt can be functional in specific cases. And the reverse - living in a state open to care - I suspect generally leads to roughly the same endpoint you're trying to jump to directly.
