As we all know, the natural state of the world is warlords and gangsters. But this idealic utopia has somehow been snatched away from our poor little fascists by jews/women/civilization/etc, and thus the most important thing is to support ALL gangsters and warlords who carry the torch of raw power.

Most people do not read history books and frankly probably mostly didn't even read their history books when they were in school. They absorb their sense of history, its imports and its lessons broadly from popular culture. So that popular culture matters and shaping and influencing it matters.

Finally, as an aside, I'd note that film and TV already do this better - Band of Brothers spares no punches. If video games want to be taken seriously as an art form, they need to follow suit - they need to have the courage to deliver the facts, unvarnished.
