The Acton campaign brought out a statement which is clearly something that they had drafted ages ago so they obviously had planned for this. Getting her brother to do it is a very sensible move. It just comes across like it's treating it with the withering contempt it deserves.

None of this is to say Holmes didn’t lie - she obviously lied, she was deeply implicated in the fraud. But my takeaway from Bad Blood has never been “this woman wove a magic spell with her powers” and always “no wonder our society is a mess, the men in charge think they’re gods but they’re dopes.”

I mean ultimately what is more plausible here? A 25-year-old in a toxic, abusive relationship with a much older millionaire who groomed her since high school is this unparalleled queen of deception outmaneuvering Kissinger and Boies - or Kissinger and Boies are bigger suckers than they realized?

This argument really just rubs me the wrong way: “Elizabeth Holmes must be a world-class master of manipulation, look at how all these powerful older men were taken by the fraud!” Powerful older men get taken by obvious lies all the time, in part because of this precise attitude that they can’t be.
