The whole “build this specific thing” type of Lego kit came to be when my younger brother was a kid and I felt very dismissive. Where’s the creativity? But art was always my main interest not building anything specific so it’s just a very different type of play.
Show PostI just miss how when I was a kid Lego’s were bricks in a range of colors and limited shapes and you made something creative and you didn’t follow instructions. I enjoyed that. The whole build this one thing with these directions type of play never appealed to me.
Show PostFor fun I did a playlist of a putative Black Pop 1960-63 poll (first 20 eligible songs on Acclaimed Music basically) and it made me mad all over again that growing up I was sold the idea this was some kind of dead zone!
Show PostFound this 70s Fumetti called "Pig" w pretty insane covers (the inside is kinda disappointing)
Show PostA common thing I hear about writing, my own and others, is that it made me feel like I wasn't alone -- see James Baldwin on Dostoevsky -- or put something into words I was feeling but couldn't express. The same is true of music. We've all felt this. This song is about me. It saved my life etc.
