The thing about Jan Crawford’s “diatribe” and CNN’s “heated” is, we all could see the whole exchange with our own eyes, but it suggests they’ve fucked up a lot of coverage of things we couldn’t see.

(This is also why some of his most effective recent moments have been leaning into sincerity and *away* from the bro-asshole persona which is beloved online and uh not really elsewhere)

my hot take on AES is that an underrated reason for his struggles has been that his public persona is pretty clearly and deliberately 'kind of an asshole', which plays extremely well with people who already like him and fairly poorly with everyone else
