when I was a child my parents became estranged from my maternal grandparents and my mom was really big on boundaries/ protecting her mental health/etc. and then I turned 18 and wanted low/no contact with my own mother & my dad literally said to me about it "i wish we hadnt taught you that was ok" 😅
