My experience these days is that finding dates that work with friends can be very hard, and the "when do you have time?" back-and-forth is so exhausting it often falls apart. Having some kind of standing open invitation might help, or tacking dinner onto shared activities like clubs. But it's hard.

It doesn’t have to be dinner. Watch a movie together and then discuss over coffee and dessert. Or, have everyone bring over their crafts/hobbies to work on together with coffee/tea and snacks.

😭 we risk gradually becoming “human resources” only. Like how people are treating farm animals, we ourselves are getting degraded to consumers and workforce only. Time to change back into the social behaviour that once was the success of our species.

I have friends who would do a big pasta dinner once a week. We bought 3 pizzas for a dozen people a few nights ago, and someone brought brownies their kids made. Does it have to be a "nicer" meal?

I ran a little free bakery box for 4.5 years, and it is amazing how many neighbors/passersby will happily grab a homemade cookie from a stranger. I love the drop-in barbecue!
