That combined with his unfamiliarity with the left and to a lesser extent simple progressivism at the street, academic, or elected political levels and his antipathy towards learning anything about the street or academic levels suggests a steady slide right dependent on who he is arguing with most.

I think that entirely depends on his ratio of arguing with leftists vs arguing with rightists. He's extremely annoying so I haven't read many of his posts, but I don't see many obvious anchoring statements where he admits admiration for the ideas or abilities of people to his left.
