Mine comes from my dad who was a film extra in the 70s and was a stormtrooper in the first Star Wars. The extras couldn't breathe in the suits, so the tube shaped thing at the back of their belts had airholes and tubes going up to the helmet. Extras used to keep their cigarettes in the tubes.
