I remember my friend Jane unwrapping one of her Christmas presents when she was 9 & I was 6. It slowly revealed itself to be this. It looked like a magical object, a talisman, a glimpse into a bold future. "Why can't I be old enough to get one of those?" I thought. I'd never been so keen to grow up.

Time was, in my lifetime, you could get a part time job at the supermarket on the tills, and go for a few pints after work for the price of an hours wage. Now, those tills (and jobs) don't exist, and it's cheaper to buy a 4 pack of tinnies than the cost of a pint out.
