That is definitely a challenge; it simply costs more to make wine here, and supporting local often includes paying a premium. Of the 4 I mentioned in the linked article, Galen Glen and Mazza have better QPR. The other two, while perhaps higher quality, are indeed pricey, esp. vs EU.

That’s part of the problem. Wine is so exalted in some quarters that the urge to price aggressively is not always justified. The collector mentality is far removed from where wine is actually made and has been drunk for millennia.
