Seems like first report was "fire and possibly explosion" on training range at ~4pm followed by "weather making fire bigger" and "everyone stay away."

There's unconfirmed reports that a live ammunition training exercise hit either a gas well or pipeline and caused an explosion. Wainwright is rife with wells and pipelines. The wildfire is currently being held (good news). The pipeline/well should have an auto shut-off. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

It is not strategically useful to tell everyone in international media precisely what happened at Canada's military "finishing school" base either. The fire is large enough and the winds have been strong enough that they are concerned it'll blow into the nearby civilian community.
