Finally watched “Wicked” the movie. While the play did pack a lot into 3 hours and I was glad to see some scenes breathe and explore the full range of emotions, “Defying Gravity” did not need to be 15 minutes!! But Cynthia and Ariana were 💯 and so were Bowen and Michelle Yeoh.

But looking at the comments section it’s unclear who they are speaking for or to. It’s like the South Korean version of a “never-Trump” movement. It lives on-line and is based on previous social capital garnered through punditry, but no longer speaks to any significantly large social movement. End

Props to @koreanforeigner.bsky.social and Korea Pro for getting the terminology right. The Korean in the reporting is 입건 (立件), which often means to "book someone on criminal charges." In English, that generates images of being dragged to the police station and photographed, fingerprinted, etc.
