Left unsaid so far is that Iran does not need to move rapidly to build a nuclear weapon as they used to. Iran knows they can close the Straits any time, and the US unwilling to risk what is needed to reopen them. US ability to deter Iran has dropped, and Iran's ability to deter US has grown.
