    What a beautiful walk! Birds: Goldeneye (1st on the mere for 2 years, my 110 species for the year on patch), Ravens (chasing off 2 youngsters today), Grey Wagtail, Fieldfares, Redwings, Tufted Ducks, Mute Swans, Pinkies, Mipits, Kingfisher, Siskins, 1st Redpoll of Autumn etc!

    Some photos from around my walk this morning. We are so lucky at the minute with beautiful Autumn weather for walking. Roses still out, beautiful Autumn colours and Fly Agaric with a white fungi (anyone know what it is?)

    Still a few insects around on my walk. These 2 were on the Marigolds in the garden: Marmalade Hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus), Common Drone Fly (Eristalis tenax) The marigolds just pop up in the gravelled front garden every year which is nice. Look at the hairy backs all the better for pollinating?!

    The moths are still trickling in! 5/6 last night in Marbury: 2 Mottled Umbers, Figure of 8, Black Rustic, Angle Shades. A Ophion Obscuratus. I am happy to continue trapping as I am always optimistic that a NFG will turn up like the Streak & I will miss looking in the trap each morning too! #teammoth

    Waxwing in the mist this dreich Westray morning. Flew over my head and landed on a neighbour's roof. A handy core 3km #PWC2026 patch tick tho 😉 and very welcome cos there's been bugger all in recent days. #WestrayBirding
