Ever wondered about this unusual looking bridge over the M27 near Swanwick? It’s disused now, but was built to protect the motorway from clay dropping from buckets on an aerial ropeway that crossed to a nearby brickworks.

This is the view above the motorway. It’s fenced off, but you can still visit the brickworks as it’s an industrial museum (thebrickworksmuseum.org), and see the bridge outside. Part of the site for the clay pits is now the air traffic control centre. @roads.org.uk

Also seem to have dropped plans for improving the Ely railway junction which has an impact on N-S and E-W rail travel, including goods going to east coast ports. Never understood Governments dropping bypasses because by removing heavy through traffic they have a huge environmental and health impact.
