I carry the papers into the shop. I manage to open the bands around them before the shopkeeper brings the scissors. We laugh. The Woman From The Care Home comes in. I tell her I’m going to Cleethorpes today. ‘Wrap up warm’ she says. We laugh. Lots of early morning laughter in the shop.

Early stroll. That wall seems deep in stone thought. The moon’s constant redrafting. A cacophony of cans in a lidless brown bin. Did those leaves fall to the ground in a Barnsley accent? A man emerges from shadow, re-merges with shadow, emerges again, re-merges again.
