I am a new father in my 40s. I absolutely don't have the time or energy to participate in manufactured drama. I don't want to fight as life is too short, so if given the choice, I'll simply not allow that person into my life if all they want to do is create negativity with revolving regularity.

Sadly, I'm in this situation now with one of my parents. (They've been divorced for 30+ years). The one parent I no longer talk to spent their life verbally and emotionally assaulting the people around them, being forgiven over and over, but this time is facing a consequence of that action.
