I am struggling to understand what it means to be 62 year old dude. I feel like the quality and texture of hope and expectation needs to change in significant way. Like: yeah, you're not going to get things that you thought you might get. I want to adjust my attitude about this, seriously.

I went through three agents (two quit the biz without telling me) before I signed with my fourth, who sold my novel, then moved agencies, and then got let go in a purge, which meant my book came out unagented. I'm now on agent number five, whom I love. Getting a good agent is a true level in hell.
