Getting so much news coverage of political candidates in states where I don't even live, but I can't name a single Republican policy that would improve someone's life. It's all about someone's religion, mom, or supposed vegan diet.

I have always believed Takahata was the better director and I have always enjoyed his movies far more than Miyazaki's. Not to make a petty comparison, they are both masters of their craft, but I always feel like Takahata lived in Miyazaki's shadow unfairly. I am Only Yesterday's strongest soldier

as someone who's not a huge Ghibli glazer like a lot of other anime writers, the quote tweets on this feel real good three weakest for me, though: The Cat Returns, The Wind Rises, and Ponyo I'm also not a huge Castle of Cagliostro fan, because Miyazaki's Lupin is so comparitively lame

I’m not shocked that in this moment of widespread normalization of toxic behavior folks are being shamed for setting boundaries w/ abusive family members. I imagine most of the impulse to normalize and downplay the berating, lying, manipulation & narcissism of public figures starts at home.
