On this day in 2017, I went to BBC TVC to collect my auction lot from the big sell off. And there I met the BBC2 idents of my youth. Star struck.
Show PostWell, at least it wasn't a marginal fault which only showed up in circuit.
Show PostPaid £2 for this pong machine. Missing the top poly and power supply. Will test soon.
Show PostWow, that's amazing, I didn't know you could solder using an oscilloscope probe. Or maybe it is designed to capture the magic smoke that is released when you accidentally short two pins together with the probe? Or is it an iron that has a 10x better soldering setting?
Show PostTook the better part of an Easter vacation! But yes, the biggest breakthrough was figuring out how to replicate it 100% consistenly. First then I could properly hook up for timing analysis with only relevant lines. For potential cold join, I'd recommend going over probing with cold-spray.
