This isn’t being ‘sensible’, ‘practical’ or ‘pragmatic’. The result is the opposite.
Show PostWe see this in their approach to immigration - it’s all about making nice noises to racists - and to oil and gas. They seem to forget that reality bites, and that if you give a racist or a climate change denier an inch all you do is convince them they’re right.
Show PostLabour seem unable to learn that in some situations there is a right side and a wrong side. Sometimes a compromise is entirely inappropriate. There’s no balance to be found between racists and non-racists. No balance between climate change deniers and reality.
Show Postalso: i think the fact that it's being used significantly less versus what people pay into it is not a reason to say "we need to stop going out of our way to make people leave, because the nhs will lose out". people shouldn't be paying twice over for a literal scam of a charge in the first place
