I’d say in this case that it would take a photographic genius to make this particular specimen look good!
Show PostThis rather faded specimen from Cromford Moor 28/05/2026 has been confirmed as Epinotia tetraquetrana (male). Probably 4th VC57 record? #TeamMoth As suggested by one of our group the preparations are often more beautiful than the moth 😁 Maybe my photography skills don't help 😉
Show PostThe moths with the big identity crisis have emerged, the Epirrita species #teamMoth Last night's trap had one November Moth (E. dilutata) or Autumnal Moth (E. autumnata), or Pale November Moth (E. chrystyi) visually indistinguishable and so aggregated as "November agg." in the records
Show PostHere's the prep, thank you Jane Hewitt 👌. I'm completely clueless, so if any of you gen det experts disagree please shout up.
Show PostTwo of my favourite things: Oak Trees and sunrises 😅
