Don’t know that they “keep it afloat” but they do contribute & never draw from it, so they for sure, help it out. Meanwhile, many Americans, those earning under 150,000 a yr, pay a major portion of their income into SS. Those that earn over $150,000 a yr pay less of their income into SS.
