I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT It took a dozen attempts, but using a 50/50 paint/water split of the lighter colour, then a roughly 67/33 paint/water of the darker colour with a load on the brush, and running it down the length of the blade did a similar effect!! Now to wait for it to dry....
