I think the way it happens is if they can get some kind of sustainable advantage that stops Claude having to compete in a commodity market. Without some very defensible trade secret, this just becomes a competition for who can burn the most, with no real end, like airlines

My surrender to you had, to me, some of that affect — as a parent accepting that they were wrong about their child’s identity, and relinquishing their authority over it. This is something that my own father always struggled with. When I told him I was bisexual, he insisted that I was bicurious. 😅

That actually strengthens the homology in one way, imo. The child develops its own identity as separate from the parent; often the parent feels this as a threat and tries to enforce assimilation. Hence the archetypal antagonism between generations, which I should very much like to subvert here.
