The thing I kept thinking about throughout the film was Liz talking about how her goal was "radical transparency." However, every relationship in the film is so inherently duplicitous that even in their most intimate moments, it feels like they're wearing a mask.

Billy is low-ranked simply because he is the least interesting character on his own, he's only interesting in relation to others, and Amanda-Billy the loosest and least-connected of his relationships, but certainly what the pairing lacks on paper they make up for in intensity
