The 90% isn’t being inferred from those graphs lol. JetBrains explicitly states “90% of developers regularly used at least one AI tool at work for coding and development tasks.” Those graphs break that usage down by individual products. A “none” line is irrelevant to that claim.

You’ve misread both 90% and 29%. The methodology says ~90% of the sample were specifically SWE/devs, with 10% having other titles; separately, the study finds 90% use ≥1 AI tool for development. 29% is Copilot’s individual market share, not total AI usage.

That’s a fair rebuttal! Unfortunately, recall how I stated my usage of the SOF was purely in relation to how nice its graph looks. Another study, conducted by jetbrain more recently, found 90% of the 11,000 surveyed developers used ai. The methodology of that study is much more sound 1/2
