Heat storms, massive heat waves covering at least 1% of the globe for five consecutive days, have become increasingly frequent and severe. These storms were rare in the 1960s, but now average 102 events per year, causing widespread heat-related deaths, wildfires, and droughts.

Of course the latest eastern North Pacific tropical depression forms away from the cool wakes left behind by earlier storms. 😩 Forecast guidance is bullish on rapid intensification, too. Next name on the ENP list is Vance, which has been used only twice (1990 and 2014).
