It used to be that "Westerner" and "Atlanticist" were mere synonyms. That changed. E.g. before the orange calamity Merz was considered an Atlanticist in Germany. I don't think he is anymore, yet he remains a committed Westerner. Rutte on the other hand hangs on to Atlanticism for dear life.
