De-stringing. If possible, gently cut the string from the bottom of the pigeon’s foot where the skin in more resilient than the thin skin in top of their feet. Think about the thickness of the skin on human feet. Same 😊
Show PostWhat a beautiful string-free pigeon foot should look like at the end of the process. We got to this one on time before the string did more permanent damage to the foot.
Show PostMeet Phoebe. Rescued off the streets of Porto. She needed extra care for her feet because the string had been on for a long time leading to some significant damage. She went to the vet and then sanctuary for recovery ❤️🩹
Show PostNext meetup: Domingo 15h-17h, 18 outubro, salvar pombinhos, o Porto. Join us to de-string pigeons’ feet. No experience or supplies necessary. Most volunteers speak Portuguese. Everyone speaks English. Private message for location. See you there!
