The problem with the street light war is that everyone knows where the core problem is but no one is doing anything about it, i.e. the scrap metal buyers, who gladly accept coils of wire stamped "City of St Paul" and think nothing of it.

Not generally inclined to defend Carville, as there’s not much to defend, but Carville wasn’t saying that. His point was that if the House margins were that small, the resulting gridlock would not be good for the party. This wasn’t about a fear of the left.
