this is why i find it so hard to have real sympathy for her... ppl claim she 'just' wanted revenge for the death of her brother but she goes out of her way to mention that she thought sj loved her + they'd be happy together. she's clearly still smarting over that, as if he purposefully manipulated

This waifish, guilt ridden, righteous and revenge-seeking Qiu Haitang does not at all exist in the canon text... She canonically is a very entitled, angry and hurt woman who had very real feelings for SJ and was truly sheltered and ignorant to the ways of the world.

She was raised spoiled and ignorant and surrounded by normalized abuse, she grew up thinking it was acceptable to own people, then lost it all overnight. She’s a very interesting character, but she absolutely felt entitled to Shen Jiu’s personhood like her brother did.
