This ceramic piece shows the Jaguar God of the Underworld with two cubs. Found in Nebaj, Quiche, Guatemala, it dates from 250 CE to 900 CE. It served as a ritual lid for a large funerary urn. The piece originally bore bright pigments that deteriorated during long burial in humid highland soil.
