I feel like when people talk about the superiority of man made art over AI slop they tend to focus too much on the mystic of it and not enough on the fact that for a lot of artists the process is made up of a long series of complex and meaningful deecisions that a robot sucks at making.

One thing people don't tell you about your 30s is that "taking a nap" will become the strongest competitor to all of your hobbies. Yeah I could play video games, a thing I've loved doing my whole life, or I could just lay down and close my eyes, and the latter is only getting more appealing

Like many scientists, I’ve been mulling over the impact of LLMs on our fields. I’ve not yet seen it articulated, but I think there is a largely unspoken “invisible labor underclass” framework at play.
